The Captain James T. Kirk piece was released in 2015 as part of the Perth Mint's Star Trek series. The series was released to mark the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek which first aired in 1966. The reverse features a coloured depiction of Captain James T. Kirk with the legend 'CAPTAIN JAMES T. KIRK - 1 OZ 999 SILVER.' The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of HM Queen Elizabeth II with the legend 'QUEEN ELIZABETH II - 1 DOLLAR - TUALU - 2015.'
